This weblog will serve as a venue for farmers in the state of RI to get up to date information on problems that other growers are encountering in the field as we expand the outreach offerings of the Plant Science department here at URI.
On these pages, I will post observations of plant pests and diseases as we receive requests to make field visits. The goal is that any farmer could check this website to see if a problem they are having is similar to something other farmers in the state are experiencing or from reading this bog occasionally, they may be one-step ahead should the pest show up at their farm.
For farmers that are not familiar with my office or the new services that the University is offering this website should give them an idea of the kinds of services available to them. There is also the option on this site for farmers to leave comments, those comments may be informational items aimed at passing along knowledge to other farmers – but ideally, they will also include some feedback for the University so that we can improve our services.
